Charleston Bound

I guess I'm not quite ready to commit to the cooler temperatures here in DC because next week I'm headed south to sunny Charleston, SC. It'll be my first visit to this charming city so I'd be extremely grateful for any and all recommendations. I'll only be in town for a long weekend so I'd like to pack in as much as possible. So lovely readers... what can't I miss? I'd love to hear your suggestions on places to shop shop shop, sights to see, and most importantly where to eat!

P.S Brunch at the famed Hominy Grill is definitely on our agenda!

  2. I love Hominy Grill...be prepared for a wait. Another brunch favorite is Josephs (they have live Jazz). Charleston Place is perfect for a romantic dinner. When we were there a couple got engaged at the table next to us!
    Have fun! xx

  9. I was lucky enough to spend 4 years in Charleston during college. Fantastic City. If you're looking for a yummy (and cheap!) Lunch or Dinner, check out Five Loaves on Cannon. I also highly recommend Market Pavilion Rooftop, Vendue Inn Rooftop, Magnolia's, Jim N Nicks on King, High Cotton, and a personal favorite, The Marina Variety Store (it serves breakfast etc and is above the Charleston City Marina. Its one of my favorites!)

  13. Just realized I missed this post! I currently live in Charleston and right now "Restaurant Week" is going on. This has some amazing deals at the best restaurants in Charleston. I'd highly recommend 82 Queen for a nice dinner. It is my absolute FAVORITE place in Charleston, the atmosphere is very charming, and it's located down a side street away from the main tourist traffic. If you visit during restaurant week, you get 3 courses for $30! My family went for this last year and it was wonderful. I'd also recommend Five Loaves for a casual lunch/dinner. Market Pavilion Rooftop for an afternoon cocktail (amazing view of the city). Poogan's Porch for some quaint southern cooking. And the carraige tours are pretty neat if you've never been to Charleston before.

Enjoy your visit to the lowcountry!
