Thank You

I hope everyone will join me today in taking a moment to say thank you to the honorable men and women that have protected and continue to protect our safety and freedom.

The Little Things

I am a firm believer that it is the little things in life that make all the difference. Here's a glimpse of my entryway table that makes me smile every morning as I walk out the door . A favorite print that reminds me of home, some cheerful mini pink roses that were $4.00 at the grocery store, a foo dog for some luck, and an antique bowl to keep my keys in order.

Not the most chic vignette out there, but it makes me happy and that's all that matters right?

Mistinguette

I am currently loving these vintage posters of french actress and singer Jeanne Bourgeois. A fellow singer coined the name Miss Tinguette for Jeanne which she made her own by combining the two. Mistinguette graced the stage of Casino de Paris in the 1890s as well as other famous venues such as the Moulin Rouge. Mistinguette was one of the highest female paid actresses of her time, her legs were insured for the then astronomical sum of 500,000 francs.

I would love to display these in my living room similar to the images below:

When asked to explain her popularity, Mistinguette replied:

"It is a kind of magnetism. I say 'Come closer' and draw them to me."

Ready for the Rain!

With all the rain we've been having lately in D.C, a new pair of wellies was definitely in order. I've been wanting Hunters for a while but haven't wanted to pay the $115.00 price tag. Lucky for me I was able to find a great website that sells them for $94.00! I'm always up for a bargain and I know that these will last me for years to come. If you're looking for a pair check out Dover Saddlery!
P.S Check out these sassy leopard welly socks you can accessorize your Hunters with. Too funny!

Shear Madness

Another weekend has come and gone, I can't believe how fast they fly by! The highlight of my weekend was a dinner and a trip to the Kennedy Center to see Shear Madness. If you are in the D.C or Boston area and in the mood to see a show you should definitely check it out!

The D.C cast is hysterical and really get the audience involved. You can tell they update the play frequently as there were a lot of jokes relating to current events. Balloon boy and Obama's nobel both made appearances ha! Here is the blurb about the play on the Kennedy Center's website:

"Shear Madness is the comedy whodunit that lets the audience solve the crime! Set in present-day Georgetown, Shear Madness engages locals and visitors alike as armchair detectives to help solve the scissor-stabbing murder of a famed concert pianist who lives above the Shear Madness unisex hairstyling salon. The show combines up-to-the-minute improvisational humor and a mixture of audience sleuthing to deliver a unique performance each night.

Shear Madness has been running in the Kennedy Center's Theater Lab for over 20 years, giving more than 9,000 performances and is the second longest play in the history of American Theater (its sister production of Shear Madness in Boston is #1."

I really loved the set design and although my picture snapping was nixed by one of the guides, I was able to find this photo to share via google images. Is it bad that I loved the wallpaper? Hope you all had great weekends!

Let the Wild Rumpus Start!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and that the transition back into the work week wasn't too rough today! King of Prussia wasn't too much of a success for me, wayyy too many people to shop! I did pick up some really cute shoes at a TJ Maxx and Famous Footwear we passed on the way home and had to stop at. Couldn't come home empty handed could I? I'll take pics at some point this week and post them.

Sunday was a great wind-down to the weekend, I started off with brunch with friends, watched the Ravens and Redskins, and ended the evening at Where the Wild Things Are with the bf. I enjoyed the movie, but Where the Wild Things Are wasn't my very favorite book growing up so I also didn't have high expectations to begin with that more nostalgic viewers might have.

I was really impressed with Max's acting in the film and also surprised at intense emotions the movie dealt with. Overall, it was definitely more of an adult movie then I anticipated. Still a great way to spend a sunday night!
