I Married Adventure

I'm so happy to report I just snagged a 1st edition copy of Osa Johnson's I Married Adventure on eBay! This oh-so-chic faux-bois/zebra patterned book will be proudly making its debut on my coffee table very soon (after I read it, of course!)

I Married Adventure has been seen in countless shelter mags, most recently in Michelle Adams and Patrick Cline's online venture, Lonny.

I am so excited to have found a copy, I literally have been stalking eBay auctions for months! I know that I'm definitely late in hopping on this bandwagon but I don't mind because I hear it's a great read and filled with photos from Johnson's exotic travels. For a great post on I Married Adventure check out Style Court. Now if I can only track down a copy of its sequel Four Years in Paradise in the fab giraffe print...

Ritz and Glitz

Tomorrow evening I'll be attending a gala for one of the organizations I work with. I can't say that I am thrilled with what I'm wearing but I just couldn't find any dresses appropriate for the occasion that I loved. So here's what I pulled together:

1. BCBG Pleated Bust Dress: Couldn't find a picture of mine, but it is exactly the same just the shorter version.

2. Banana Republic Clustered Jewel Earrings: which I only paid $9.50 for after using the gift cards I receive through my Banana credit card.
These Carly shoes by Kate Spade are what I wish I was wearing with my ensemble. I have been lusting after these shoes since the first time I saw them. I think they would be incredibly adorable for holiday parties, especially New Years!

Hopefully when I put everything together tomorrow night I'll feel more enthusiastic about the outfit. Right now it just seems kind of bleh. Good night!

Thank You

I hope everyone will join me today in taking a moment to say thank you to the honorable men and women that have protected and continue to protect our safety and freedom.

The Little Things

I am a firm believer that it is the little things in life that make all the difference. Here's a glimpse of my entryway table that makes me smile every morning as I walk out the door . A favorite print that reminds me of home, some cheerful mini pink roses that were $4.00 at the grocery store, a foo dog for some luck, and an antique bowl to keep my keys in order.

Not the most chic vignette out there, but it makes me happy and that's all that matters right?

Mistinguette

I am currently loving these vintage posters of french actress and singer Jeanne Bourgeois. A fellow singer coined the name Miss Tinguette for Jeanne which she made her own by combining the two. Mistinguette graced the stage of Casino de Paris in the 1890s as well as other famous venues such as the Moulin Rouge. Mistinguette was one of the highest female paid actresses of her time, her legs were insured for the then astronomical sum of 500,000 francs.

I would love to display these in my living room similar to the images below:

When asked to explain her popularity, Mistinguette replied:

"It is a kind of magnetism. I say 'Come closer' and draw them to me."
